Harvested from Naturally Infected Zones
The fertile lands of Upper Assam, with their humid, subtropical climate and annual rainfall of 1800-3500 mm, create the perfect conditions for SANCHI (Agarwood) tree plantations. These sun-loving trees thrive in acidic soils enriched by beneficial fungi, which play a crucial role in the natural formation of Agarwood oil.
With over 30 years of experience in cultivating Agarwood in this region, we’ve observed that the interaction between the trees and Zeuzera conferta (a local borer insect) is pivotal. This insect creates tunnels in tree trunks, allowing fungi to penetrate and trigger the resinification process. Over 6-10 years, this natural infection produces the rich, dark oleoresins that give Agarwood its unique aroma and value.
From the early stages of infection to the deep, black streaks formed by oleoresins, every tree yields chips and oils of exceptional quality. The extent of infection determines the grade of the product, with some trees slightly infected and others yielding highly resinous Agarwood.
At AAPTRALAC, we proudly bring you these naturally derived treasures, grown and harvested with respect for nature's intricate processes.
The natural infection process, although time-consuming, yields the finest quality Agarwood chips and oil. However, overharvesting of immature trees poses a threat to Agarwood species. To address this, we emphasize sustainable farming practices that prioritize long-term conservation and quality production. AAPTRALAC is committed to promoting sustainable Agarwood cultivation methods to meet growing global demand while protecting the environment and preserving the biodiversity of this valuable resource.
